The India Game Developer Conference (IGDC), India’s flagship event for game creators, has announced its 13th edition, which will take place this year from November 16 to November 18. This iteration, like the previous one, will be held virtually.
The event is being conducted in collaboration with the Telangana government. Each year, IGDC is a significant accelerator for the expansion of the Indian gaming industry; with passionate involvement from game developers, publishers, and investors. Its objective is to provide insights, upskilling, and networking opportunities to game creators in the presence of industry experts and investors.
This year’s IGDC will include ten essential tracks, including the latest addition of the popular Hyper-casual tune.
The event is projected to draw 10,000 attendees, 120+ industry experts, 100+ e-stalls, 30 publishers, and 30 investors. Unreal Engine will be the event’s presenting sponsor, with MPL and AWS serving as gold sponsors.
The conference also includes the Annual India Game Developer Awards, with entries closing on October 18, 2021. The finalists will be revealed on November 10, 2021; and the winners will be honoured on the first day of the IGDC.
The award categories are as follows:
This year’s IGDC will also see the return of BYOG (Build Your Own Game), India’s longest-running game jam. BYOG’s 16th edition will be hosted on itch.io between 22 October (6:00PM) and 24 October (6:00PM); and will see game developers from around the country compete to build a game in a short period of time across several themes. The results will be revealed at the IGDC.
Over the years, BYOG has been crucial in recognising and supporting game development talent from inside the country; with previous winners going on to earn international awards and create successful games and careers.
