National Poker Series India 2022 Officially Scheduled to Begin on March 6

The dates for the 2022 edition of India’s most prestigious poker event, as well as one of the most recognised and prestigious in the poker industry, have just been announced. The National Poker Series India will begin on March 6, 2022, and will last for 15 days, according to the official announcement.

A Total of 84 Tournaments to Take Place

During those 15 days, NPS 2022 will host 84 tournaments, crowning the country’s best poker players. It will be hosted online at PokerBaazi.com, a platform that was recently named India’s top-ranked poker website by Poker Scout, the world’s top poker-listing website.

Aside from the 252 medals awarded throughout the series, a guaranteed prize amount of INR 18.5 crores ($2.5 million) will be featured. To gain entry into the NPS tournaments, players must first compete in the Qualifiers, which will begin on PokerBaazi.com on January 15.

Navkiran Singh, the CEO and founder of Baazi Games, stated that the NPS allows players to have their names engraved in the Golden Book of Indian Poker history. Respect, fame, and glory are central themes in the series. Because of the concept, the game is available to a large number of poker enthusiasts in India.

He also stated that, given India’s high Internet penetration, the PokerBaazi app was created to meet the standards of international poker apps and to be the driving force in recognising and highlighting poker talents.

The First NPS Edition Had Participants From 20 States

NPS 2021 was the inaugural edition of the prestigious event, and it was a huge success. It was broadcast in several regions and featured participants from 20 different states. It also had 64 tournaments and 83,793 entries. The total prize money was Rs. 19 crore ($2.6 million). This one-of-a-kind concept received so much praise because it arrived at the ideal time. The original plans for NPS 2021 date back to December 2020.

Poker is one of the leading segments in India’s digital wave, which is rapidly expanding. The country’s online transaction system, powered by UPI, enabled numerous sectors to adapt to this method of payment, and according to KPMG, the online gaming industry in India is expected to grow at a 22 percent CAGR by 2023, reaching 11,880 crores ($1.6 billion).

The five states with the most medals in the NPS are Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka with 12, Haryana with 18, New Delhi with 37, and Maharashtra with 44.

Aside from the fact that each tournament’s winner receives a medal, the series also has a leaderboard for the overall medal tally. In 2021, the podium finishers were Kritagya Sharma of New Delhi (bronze medal), Ankit Wadhawan of Punjab (silver medal), and Mohammad Azhar Tak of Rajasthan (gold medal), and they won a trip to Las Vegas to compete in one of the world’s most important poker events.

Azhar Tak was crowned Champion of Champions, and Vivek Bajaj took home the Golden Rush tournament.
